Dr. Klecka Joins Association of Teacher Educator's Board of Directors
Dr. Cari Klecka has recently been elected to the Board of Directors of the national Association of Teacher Educators (ATE). She has served on a variety of national committees and commissions within ATE prior to her election as the At-Large Representative through 2013. Dr. Klecka has been a faculty member in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction since 2004.
Student Teaching Opportunities in China, Spring 2010
Dear Senior Undergraduate or Graduate Students in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction:
We are inviting undergraduate students in their senior year and graduate students who will be enrolling in their student teaching during Spring 2010, to participate in an international teaching and travel experience. You are being invited to student teach during Spring, 2010, in one of the major cosmopolitan cities in China: Shenzhen.
Program Location
The host school is situated in Shenzhen, China, which is in the southern region of China's Guangdong Province. Shenzhen closely neighbors Hong Kong and boasts a rich history of ancient pagodas mixed with fast-paced modern cosmopolitan development that is considered one of the commercial gateways to the world. More than 10 million people from all over China and the world live in this modernized city bristling with skyscrapers and shopping malls.
Drs. McKinney and Giorgis Publish New Article in the Journal of Literacy Research

Curriculum & Instruction faculty members Dr. Marilyn McKinney and Dr. Cyndi Giorgis have recently published a study about writing identities of literacy specialists in an article entitled, Narrating and Performing Identity: Literacy Specialists' Writing Identity in the Journal of Literacy Research (Volume 41, Issue 1).
Course Number and Title Changes Effective Fall 2009
Many of the departments 700 level courses will have new names and titles effective Fall 2009. If you need assistance determining equivelant courses, please view the course equivalency page or your program of study page.
Note that these changes are primarily limited to masters level courses.
UNLV Faculty Celebrates Publishing of New Book
Dr. Cari Klecka and Dr. Sandra Odell, both faculty members in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, have recently seen their collaborative efforts materialize into an comprehensive work entitled Visions for Teacher Educators: Perspectives on the Association of Teacher Educators' Standards. The other editors of the book are W. Robert Houston of the University of Houston and Robin Haskell McBee of Rowan University.
