Graduate Licensure Program

Profesional Developement Office
The Graduate Licensure Program is a graduate program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) leading to an elementary or secondary teaching license and a Master of Education (M.Ed.).

  • Candidate
Eligibility is limited to persons holding an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in a non-education field, whose overall undergraduate or graduate GPA is 3.0 or higher. (Overall GPA between 2.75 and 2.99 will be considered if openings exist.)
  • Admission
Candidates are admitted for the Fall Semester (March 15 application Deadline) and the Spring Semester (October 30 application Deadline). Students are not admitted during the summer; however, potential candidates may enroll in select courses, as non-admitted graduate students, while awaiting admission to the program. Students should apply for admission to the Graduate College. Upon admission to the Graduate College, students will be eligible for admission to the Graduate Licensure Program. Once accepted to the Graduate Licensure Program, students should complete the course requirement worksheets they receive and contact their advisors to schedule initial appointments. No advisors are assigned until students are admitted to the Graduate Licensure Program.
  • Coursework
Students are required to complete the courses as delineated in each phase of the program prior to student teaching. Continuous enrollment must be maintained unless a letter requesting exemption for the semester in question is submitted. Once admitted, students must take a 600 or 700 level course each semester, with the exception of the student teaching semester.
  • M.Ed.
Students have 6 years from the date of admission and/or the oldest graduate course to complete the master's degree.
