| Biography: Porter Troutman is a professor in teacher education. He joined the UNLV faculty in 1971, where he teaches K-12 undergraduate and graduate classes in multicultural education and elementary education. He has served as Director of Teacher Corps, Professional Studies, Student Teaching, National Youth Sports Program, Evaluator for US Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools, NCATE Chair and ATE Association Development Committee. His research interests include transformative curriculum. Dr. Troutman is the founder and State President of NAME (National Association for Multicultural Education), a primary organization devoted to equal access and opportunity for all students. Dr. Troutman is a Fullbright scholar and has made extensive local, national and international multicultural education presentations in Singapore, Malaysia, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Taipei, Twain, Lucerne, Switzerland, Egypt, most recently Santiago, Chile. Dr. Troutman serves on the Association for Teacher Educator Commission on Racism and the Association of Teacher Educator/National Council Social Studies Joint Commission on Social Justice. He is chair of NAME Leadership for Social Justice Committee and National Rural Education Multicultural Committee and Co-Chaired the 11th International Multicultural Conference for 2001. He has published widely in the area of Multicultural Education. Most recent publications have been published in European Journal of Intercultural Studies, Action in Teacher Education, Overview of Framework.
